Atlanta couple collects Powerball jackpot worth $247.000.000

It’s been over two weeks since someone from Georgia made history by collecting a $247.000.000 prize, the largest Powerball jackpot ever won in this state. Names of the people who managed to do it were finally revealed when William and Heather ten Broeke came forward with the winning ticket in their hands. Follow in their footsteps and become lottery millionaire on Friday – Euromillions is offering a dazzling €156.000.000 cash reward!

The fortunate couple scooped $247.000.000 by matching the winning numbers 9, 19, 51, 55 and 62 plus the Power Ball 14 on September 17th with a ticket they purchased at Publix Super Market located on Town Boulevard in Brookhaven. They were grocery shopping that day and almost forgotten to buy a ticket, but Ms. ten Broeke reminded her husband to grab one.

“Without her reminding me to buy the ticket, we wouldn’t have won,” said the 46-year-old winner, who collected the windfall with his wife at the Georgia Lottery headquarters on Monday.

They scanned the ticket a couple of days later, after seeing a news report about it being sold somewhere in their area. Since it hasn’t been claimed by anyone else, the ten Broekes decided to check their numbers and were surprised by what they came to find.

“We were shocked. We couldn’t believe it. We checked the numbers numerous times,” recalled Mr. ten Broeke.

He works as a commercial credit officer, while his wife has a job as a cardiac device specialist. They’ve been married with one kid for about five years, and intend to invest their money, do some traveling, help their family out and donate a portion of it to charity.
