Winning $1.000.000 is an amazing experience for everyone who happens to be faced with it, but in case of Sarah-Ellen Payne there was someone more excited about her lotto victory than she was. When the lucky Trenton resident shared the news with her mom, she was filled with joy after hearing about her daughter’s new-found fortune.
Ms. Payne scooped the $1.000.000 Lotto Max MaxMillions prize all the way back on September 9th, but it took her almost two months to come forward and officially claim it. She was one of six punters who had a ticket with a winning MaxMillions combination that night.
“I checked my lottery numbers online. All six numbers matched up! I was shocked as I couldn’t believe it,” recalled Ms. Payne while collecting her cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
The 29-year-old woman was feeling overwhelmed after discovering the ticket that she purchased at Price’s Variety on Byron Street in Trenton was the winning one, but she was ready to share the news with her nearest and dearest. She immediately called her mother and said “she seemed more excited than I was” after discovering her daughter just became $1.000.000 richer. Payne had enough time to carefully plan for the future before coming forward to collect her cheque, and she knows exactly what she wants to do with it.
“I already bought a car and I plan to share some of my winnings with family. I was thinking about buying a new house. Plus, my boyfriend and I will be taking the kids to Disney world! This win gives me the freedom to do things that I couldn’t do before,” said the winner.
