$4.900.000 lotto winner goes on a Cuban Christmas vacation

Winning $4.900.000 means you can celebrate Christmas anywhere you want to, and Douglas Lowes from Cranbrook decided to spend his first holiday as a millionaire in Cuba. We’re hoping you’ll experience the Christmas miracle of your own in the next couple of day – play your Eurojackpot numbers and you could become €90.000.000 richer just in time for the New Year’s Eve.

Mr. Lowes purchased the winning Lotto 6/49 on December 17th on his way home from a volunteering stint. The fortunate man said he enjoys helping others as much as he can and intends to leave his job as a heavy equipment operator to do it full-time.

“I like volunteering. I’d rather be doing stuff that I really enjoy rather than working for somebody else. I have to go back and do some proper closure there, but I’ll be quitting. I’m 50 years old. Why would I work if I don’t have to?” explained the man.

Lowes had some spare time around the holidays, so he decided to volunteer at the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle and said it “felt pretty good” – that’s what inspired him to walk into a local mall and by the ticket that brought him a $4.900.000 windfall.

“Now I can make sure my garden and property will look the way I want it to look. And we’ll also be making some contributions to three local charities, all of which do great work in Cranbrook,” said Mr. Lowes.
When it comes to more immediate plans, the lotto winner decided to move up a family vacation to Cuba, so he could celebrate Christmas in a warmer country with his wife and two teenage sons.
