L.A. resident wins $866.000 with his first Powerball ticket

Some people invest a lot of time and patience before striking gold on Powerball, but for others it only takes a little bit of beginners’ luck. Jorge Solis-Cortes is one of those who didn’t have to spend years waiting for his numbers to be drawn – he won $866.000 with his first lotto ticket ever. If you haven’t tried your luck with Powerball yet, now’s the perfect time – a staggering $127.000.000 jackpot is up for grabs!

The 23-year-old winner matched the five main numbers 17, 40, 41, 46 and 69 in the November 18th drawing. Since he missed the Power Ball number 6 Solis-Cortes didn’t win the jackpot, but he took home the second prize worth $866.000. The lucky winner wouldn’t be holding the oversized cheque with this number written on it if it weren’t for his dad. He asked Jorge to help him run few errands and as they drove by Nabor’s Meat Market in South Los Angeles the winner’s father purchased two Powerball tickets – one for him and one for his son.

“I was just shocked. I couldn’t believe I won this amount of money. It’s a pretty big amount for somebody my age to win something like this. It’s like, ‘Wow!’” said Solis-Cortes.

The lucky winner currently works as a parking attendant for the county Department of Beaches and Harbors and doesn’t intend to quit his job – he will use his fortune to go back to school and help his family.

Powerball jackpot isn’t the only impressive lotto prize out there – Mega Millions could make you $47.000.000 richer tonight!
