Couple to buy their first house with $1.000.000 Powerball prize

After eight years of marriage, a couple from Elkridge is finally going to start looking for their first home – and all that thanks to Powerball. Carrie Groves and her husband Glen won $1.000.000 back on Wednesday and it didn’t take them long to pick up the prize and start making plans for the future. You could do the same after the next Powerball drawing – play now to scoop $180.000.000!

Carrie Groves matched the five main numbers 7, 10, 16, 46 and 56 on December 9th, but missed the Power Ball number 1, winning the Match 5 prize worth $1.000.000. Two days later, she scanned her ticket in a nearby 7-Eleven and after getting a message saying “Cash at Lottery” Ms. Groves realized a huge prize was at stake. She returned to her car, used an app on a phone to see the actual amount of the windfall and what she saw left her in a state of shock.

“It was a bunch of zeroes. I said, ‘Wait, let me count all these zeroes.’ I was shaking. I was excited,” recalled the lucky winner who immediately called her husband Glen. After hearing how shaken she was, he “started thinking the worst, but it turned out it was the best.”

Carrie and Glen celebrated eighth wedding anniversary earlier this year and the lotto win gave them a unique opportunity to make it even more special by buying their first home, which they’ll share with their two kids. The Groves also intend to give money to charities, such as Toys for Tots and the Maryland Food Bank, as a “thank you” for helping their family in the past.

You could also return the favour to those who’ve shown you kindness after winning Euromillions – a €71.000.000 jackpot is up for grabs!
