Kelowna grandma wins $50.000.000, plans to share it with her family

A trip to a local grocery store paid off big time for June Bergh from Kelowna – she bought a Lotto Max ticket, hoping she would walk away with a Maxmillion prize worth $1.000.000, but ended up hitting the jackpot. Could you end up with millions of dollars in your bank account after the next Powerball draw? Play now to find out – a $227.000.000 jackpot is up for grabs!

Ms. Bergh matched all the winning numbers in the Lotto Max draw on April 8th and described the feeling of becoming a lottery millionaire as unbelievable and unreal.

“When I first checked my ticket, initially I thought I won $50.000 and I asked my husband to take a look and double check it. He instantly became dazed when he realized we were holding a $50.000.000 ticket,” recalled the retired operating room nurse.

The couple’s main plan is to help out their family – there are roughly 14 family members who could have money coming their way, with a focus on their son, daughter and grandchildren in Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary.

“This win is about them, not about us. It gives me great pleasure in helping others,” said Ms. Bergh, who described herself as an occasional lottery player and said she will probably stop buying tickets after this incredible victory.

June and Gus have been married for 54 years, and the win will also allow them to have a little time for themselves. The couple has no interest in buying a new house or making any major purchases, but they will use some of the money to take a few more cruises.
