J.B. Sim decided to split his astonishing $7.000.000 windfall with two family members, including his sister, and it’s not hard to see why – she was the one who advised him to start buying tickets in the first place. Sim’s ticket matched the numbers 4, 19, 26, 33 and 58 with the bonus ball 2 in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash4Life draw on May 23rd. The jackpot winners are offered with a choice between receiving $1.000 per day for the rest of their lives or a one-time cash prize of $7.000.000 before taxes – the lucky Portsmouth man chose the second option. Sim realized that he became a millionaire when his brother showed him the winning numbers for the May 23rd draw.
“I was happy. Then I went back to sleep. I had to go to work the next morning,” said the humble man, who described Cash4Life as “a beautiful game”.
The golden ticket was purchased at the Quest store in Chesapeake, which received a $50.000 bonus for selling it. Four days after the draw, Mr. Sim went back to the store to pick up the check from the Virginia Lottery on behalf of his family members. He decided to share the money with his sister-in-law, Nomee Sim of Belleview, Washington and his sister, Jaehee Yoshimoto of Kapolei, Hawaii, who is responsible for their incredible victory.
“She was the brains behind it,” explained Sim, who started buying lottery tickets after Ms. Yoshimoto suggested it.
Cash4Life seems a little bit different from the usual lottery games, but so is Fruit Bonanza. Take a spin and you could end up $136.600 richer in a second!
