The highest Mega Millions jackpot of the year worth $393.000.000 goes to Illinois

Mega Millions enthusiasts around the world spent over three months hoping they’re going to end up with millions of dollars in their pockets, but only one ticket holder was lucky enough to turn this dream into reality. A winning ticket worth $393.000.000 was sold in Illinois, transforming someone into the biggest Mega-millionaire of the year 2017.

The winning line drawn on August 11th consisted of the main numbers 23, 33, 53, 56 and 58 with the Mega Ball 6. It was matched by one player from Illinois, and according the latest reports the golden ticket was sold at the Nick’s Barbecue in the city of Palos Heights. Despite the fact there was only one jackpot winner on Friday night, several participants had a reason for celebration after the numbers were drawn. Three tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second prize, but their amounts slightly differ. Two players from California and Ohio collected the usual $1.000.000 Match 5 prize, while one fortunate ticket holder from Washington snatched $5.000.000 thanks to spending an extra buck on the Megaplier option.

There are many things that make Friday night’s victory so extraordinary – it’s currently the fifth largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, and also the second highest cash reward collected by a single ticket holder since this game’s inception. The highest Mega Millions windfall amounted to $656.000.000 and it was shared between three players from Kansas, Illinois and Maryland. The title of the biggest sole winner still belongs to a mysterious couple from Indiana, who collected their $536.000.000 windfall via Warren D, LLC trust in July last year.

Mega Millions jackpot may be off the table, but Powerball is still offering a life-changing fortune – play now and spice up your summer with a $356.000.000 pay-out!
