Melate's roots can be traced back to the original Mexican La Loteria, which is similar to the American game of Bingo. Loteria is a significant part of Mexican culture, and it can be seen in many of the play formats for lotteries all over the country. As part of the National Lottery of Mexico, players choose six numbers between one and 56 along with an additional number, which boosts their chances of winning. In Loteria, these numbers were associated with famous images.
Players can pick up to five different combinations with the Melate wheel which has five boxes ranging from A to E with lucky combinations of six numbers from one to 56. Melate Mexico drawings are held on Wednesday's and Sundays and the minimum jackpot is always set at $30 million pesos.
