Israel Double Lotto is the newest game in the Israel National Lottery (Mifal Hapayis) portfolio. While Mifal Hapayis was established back in 1950, Double Lotto only held its first draw in 2008. The lottery was created to offer lottery lovers the country’s biggest lottery prizes. Proceeds from the Double Lotto benefit hospital services and education in Israel. In December 2009, one couple won the largest Double Lotto jackpot to date, NIS 74 million - which is about $19.7 million.
To play the Double Lotto, select 6/37 main numbers and 1 additional number, called the chazak number, between 1 and 7. The additional number is drawn from a separate drum and must be correctly matched in order to claim the jackpot as well as 3 of the 7 secondary prize categories.
